07 Abr World Recipe: Nachos
Discover how to make these delicious homemade nachos.
Ingredients:
– 2 cups cornmeal
– 1 and ½ cups warm water
– 1 teaspoon salt

Toppings:
– 2 cups cheddar cheese
– 1 tomato
– 1 jalapeño
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– Salt and pepper to taste
– ¼ red onion

Method:
1. In a large bowl, mix the cornmeal and salt. Gradually add warm water while kneading until you get a soft and manageable dough. If the dough is dry, add more water; if it’s sticky, add more cornmeal.
2. Form dough balls of desired size and flatten them with a rolling pin between two sheets of plastic.
3. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a pinch of olive oil. Cook the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until lightly browned.
4. Repeat this process with all the dough.
5. Nachos can be served hot or cold.

To accompany:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
2. Grate the cheddar cheese, dice the tomato, finely chop the red onion and jalapeño.
3. Place the nachos on a baking tray and add all the ingredients, starting with the cheddar cheese. Bake until the cheese melts and the nachos are crispy.
Tips for preparing Mexican-style nachos:
– If you don’t like spicy food, you can replace the jalapeño with other types of peppers or simply omit it.
– For a fresh touch, garnish the nachos with guacamole: mix diced avocado with some chopped cilantro.
– You can make larger nachos by increasing the cooking time.
– For a softer dough, add a bit of margarine to the dough.
– If the dough breaks easily, add a little more water.
